We made it to Kauai!

Any of you who have as many animals as we do know how stinking hard it is to go anywhere, even if it's just for a weekend.

I need a vacation just from planning this vacation.

It was literally touch and go if we were going to make it or not. As late as Thursday morning we were not going. Somehow we rallied and now I am writing this in Kauai!

MCH has never been to any of the islands so he was pretty excited once we got here.

The highlights so far:

Old Japanese man on plane with apparent dysentery and balance issues which translates to he spent more time in the bathroom than in his seat and every time he got up he needed to use my seat and head for balance.

The worst collective hair in history all seen at the Honolulu Airport. Within an hour - much to my delight.

TSA agent very busy lounging and texting .

MCH getting lai'd for the first time.

The wee'st room in a very cool eclectic hotel complete with cat and chickens.

Lillikoi pie and the discovery of the best Saimin stand in Kauai.

Eating with the locals.

The best Pancakes I have ever eaten in my life at Tip Top. Williamsburg needs this recipe.

MCH's smile

Good times!

The Beam aka Rufus, Boo Radley and on exceptional days Roscoe

Oh it has been a busy, busy year so far. As you can see by my extended absence, my torn calf is much better and I no longer need to keep it elevated for extended periods of time.

One of the things that has kept me running is The Beam. You remember that pretty black horse MCH brought home last Fall? He's now mine.

Turns out he came with a bonus body part in the form of a bone cyst. Right between the joint and the P1. For those of you not in the know, a bone cyst weakens the bone. He wound up fracturing the bone about 6 weeks after we had him. Who knows how, probably when he was turned out.

So he has been on stall rest since then. Getting hand walked . He won't be a rope horse, but with a lot of luck and prayers I may be able to trail ride him.
